Denmark is well-known for its design and architecture, and for being the home of Hans Christian Andersen, the famed storyteller. You'll also find that green spaces, public art, parks and canals appear as if by magic. The marathon course is flat and fast, full of spectators to cheer you on in Danish, English, or any other language. It takes runners past the Little Mermaid Statue, but it's likely you'll want to revisit the park at a more leisurely pace later.

After the marathon you might choose to explore some of Copenhagen's many museums and art galleries, enjoy a beer and schnaps at a canalside bar, or play at the Tivoli Gardens, the city's enormous amusement park. For even more international flavor, we'll spend a day in Malmo, Sweden, a quieter city also known for its art and the world-famous Oresund Bridge.
